In DaVinci Resolve, if you go to Clip → Freeze Frame, it will turn your entire clip into a freeze frame. If you want to just isolate a single frame in a clip as a freeze frame, do this instead:
- Use the Blade tool to make a cut where you want the freeze frame to occur
- Use the right arrow on your keyboard to move the playhead over one frame and make another cut with the Blade tool at this point
- Right-click the resulting single frame and choose Change Clip Speed
- In the options that pop-up, check off Freeze Frame
- You can stretch out clip to increase the duration of the freeze frame
